OCTOBER RATINGS, TRIPLE THREAT AND IN THE TRENCHES - WINNERS
It's becoming increasingly clear, Houston "ears" are favoring shows with former football players during football season. It's not any isolated case of either three shows topping out, it's been consistent for a few months. I do not want to take anything away from the shows by saying it's only the former Pros. All three shows (Triple Threat, In the Trenches and Mad Radio) are different. Some may know my disdain for Triple Threat but over the last couple of months, I've found myself tuning and it appears the guys are learning each other's chemistry.
What's I'm most shocked by, since Sports Radio 610's Josh Innes and Nick Wright made ratings fair game a few years back, this is one of the first times I can recall Sports Radio 610 being in a ratings battle during the football season. During the off season, any given month Sports Talk 790 could beat but usually by the time football season arrives, Sports Radio 610 (Texans Flagship Station) widens the gap.
Lastly, Paul Gallant and Brien Straw's continues to intrigue me. Their numbers intrigue because a large portion of their time slot is Texans Radio, Thursday and Monday Night Football. In fairness, Texans Radio also shares time (not as much) with In The Loop and Mad Radio.
