Season 3 of "Bates Motel" returns to A&E on March 9th, and I for one, can't wait to be creatively aroused by my favorite TV series cougar,  Vera Farmiga (Norma Bates).

The "Bates Motel" series is built around the Norman Bates character played by British actor, Freddie Highmore. Highmore's brilliant portrayal of the Norman  Bates character is stabilized in Highmore's ability to capture and translate to the screen Norman's very convoluted and subtle instabilities of his fragile Bates' mental and physiological state.

The relationship between Norma and Norman is at times awkward and downright creepy, but manages to conjure up enough traditional elements of a normal mother and son maternal relationship to keep things relatable.

Don't get it twisted though, there's nothing 'normal' about the relationship between Norma and Norman Bates.

The surprise factor in the series as far as character development, has been the strong presence of Norman's half-brother, Dylan, played by actor, Max Thieriot.  Thieriot's character is built upon a trilogy of complexities on his separate issues and emotional challenges of relationships with Norman; his mother, Norma, and her secret past; and Dylan's personal choices in money earning.

"Bates Motel" is much more than a script about three weirdos in a big house and a few murder cover-ups. The characters are all complex with a wealth in depth of individually troubling issues.
