I like to track where rumors are derived in sports. The latest rumor comes by way of Lance Zierlein (Sports Talk 790 Morning Host). Wednesday, Lance said that the Texans will have a new General Manager by the Super Bowl. He also explained that Rick Smith would likely be in a different role with the Texans organization.
I lied, the rumor didn't exactly start with Lance but you wouldn't know that from his audio, the rumor actually started with with Pro Football Talk's Jason LaConfora. On December 28, 2014 Jason wrote the following, read here. Jason also joined Mad Radio (Sports Radio 610) to expand on point.
It's simply amazing in media how copycatting is acceptable. It would be one thing if we were talking about a "common" take widely believe, but Rick Smith being promoted to a newly created position? That's very damn specific.
