"SEC GUY" CALLS PORTLAND RADIO STATION TO BASH "PAC 10" FOOTBALL

On Wednesday morning (10/27), Dr. Karol Kenton Kogslotter (aka “SEC Guy”), one of the rare callers to the “Sean and John Show” (he calls them “Shane and Jacob”) on 1560 KGOW (3-7 PM, daily) was in the Portland (OR) area when he called up “The Morning Sports Page” on Sports Radio 95.5 The Game with Chad Doing, the Godfather (Dwight Jaynes), and Jason Peterson (all pictured) and their guest, former NFL safety and Oregon Duck commentator, Anthony Q. Newman (pictured below), to bash PAC 10 football.

KEEP 'EM LAUGHING!

There have been many cases of people curing terminal diseases and chronic illness with laughter. While some doctors criticize this method of treatment, scientists from the University of California have proven that laughter helps the cardiovascular system, lowers stress hormones like cortisol and adrenalin, and increases the body's natural killers cells to fight tumor cells and cells that infected with viruses.

Basically chronic illness can be dealt with laughter therapy because the therapy helps to exercise both the mind and the body. The mind is exercised by way of meditation that is done before the laughter session begins and laughter therapy helps to exercise the body.

Thus if "Laughter is the best medicine", as the saying goes, SR610’s John “Mr. Giggles”Lopez will live to be 100. The guy is a non-stop infectious laughter machine.

I remember when some of the 1940 and 1950 movie trailers for comedies would have the tag line, "A laugh a minute". Well, John surpasses that.

FLUB OF THE DAY

The Houston Chronicle had several in Wednesday’s (10/27) Sports, but the most obvious was the sub-headline on page C-6 regarding Boise State’s win over Louisiana Tech. The sub-headline read, “Martin throws for 2 TDs; Broncos win 21st in a row”. It was actually QB Kellen Moore who not only threw for two TDs, but also caught one.

Barry Warner had another brain cramp on Wednesday night’s show on SR610 when he said the Texans drafted David Carr ten years ago. It was actually eight years ago (2002).

Charlie Pallilo (Sports Talk 790) when talking about the San Francisco Giants’ World Series history, mentioned that they lost in 1962 and 2002. He failed to mention that they also lost in 1989 when they were swept by the Oakland A’s in the “Earthquake Series”, but fortunately he was saved by e-mailers who corrected him.

COOL ATHLETE NAME:

THE SEASON AIN'T OVER YET FOR THE HEAT!

The NBA season began Tuesday night and the “feature game” saw the Boston Celtics beat the Miami LeBrons. The best news to come out of that game was that any speculation about an undefeated season for Miami has ended. The Miami Heat are going to be very good for one simple reason; an NBA team with two superstar players is a very good team. The Heat have two superstar players and one star player in Chris Bosh. The Crier expects to make some nice change going both with and against them this season.

FROM THE HMW MAILBAG!

Rick commented on Craig Shelton’s 10/22 post, "WAITING TO EXHALE, I.E., "FIRE RICH LORD"! - CRAIG..."  (http://sheltonmedia.blogspot.com/2010/10/waiting-to-exhale-ie-fire-rich-lord.html)

"Hmmm coming from the "Lily white" side of the fence, I really disagree with your take on Rich Lord. Of course this comes as no surprise to you I am sure. I personally think Rich's sports knowledge is fine. Let's face it there are very few Charlie Pallilo's out there. I also take issue with the Josh Innes and Robert Henslee pairing. If they did that I would never listen to the 610 drive time again.

I was not sorry to see the Matt Jackson/Rich Lord pairing end. I do think Matt is a lot better than Innes though. 610 needed to keep Adam Clanton and Adam Wexler. That much is certain. I like both of them a lot. I think they could have been paired up and had a great show.

I also certainly never had a problem with your show. I always liked the takes, although I didn't always agree with them. I enjoyed the humor, too.

What I do agree with about 610's drive time show is that there are a few too many bits. I kind of like the celebrity birthday break in the show although I wouldn't miss it if it left. The whiner line can stay. I am glad they have dropped H-Town and beyond. Or have they? I am not sure I have been listening at the right time. Anybody who wants Sexy Traffic dropped is nuts!

To sum up, I think Rich is fine. I think the pairing of him with Robert is okay. I think there could be a better pairing, but I wouldn't want an Innes type (in your face) personality in there. I would much rather have the Palillo/Lord pairing again. Not sure how they would feel about it, but I thought they had a great chemisty back in the day.” END

Robert in the Heights commented on Lamont Mann’s 10/27 post "LESBIAN CRAIG V RICH LORD": http://sheltonmedia.blogspot.com/2010/10/lesbian-craig-v-rich-lord.html:

"As a Caucasian male, I find it funny that a guy on a predominantly white station would praise a US Senator affiliated with the KKK (that's sarcasm). Rich is the first one to tell you he sticks his foot in his mouth at times which is the reason I listen to Charlie Palillo. Nothing about Rich's delivery is entertaining and he clearly lacks in depth sports knowledge." END

Earlis also commented on the above post:

"Rich plays with the house money... He knows the game and plays it well... His total sports knowledge package fits in a bumble bee's ass quite nicely." END

Robert in the Heights also left a comment on Lamont’s post of 10/27, "THAT'S PRETTY MESSED UP, THE MIGHTY SHOULD HAVE WE...": http://sheltonmedia.blogspot.com/2010/10/thats-pretty-messed-up-mighty-should.html:

"You guys are crazy. Leave The Mighty alone he's a nice person. Of course he's off target a lot but he is better than Josh Innes. I absolutely love the blog and I don't agree with everything you guys say, but it's entertaining.” END

ORLANDO* (-13.5)  over WASHINGTON

Very difficult early game for Wizards without Gil Arenas, who has a strained tendon in his right ankle. Wiz face a motivated squad that has been totally disrespected in the off season with the LeBron circus in Miami. Wiz young center JaVale McGee has talent, but there is no way he can contain Dwight Howard. It’s John Wall’s D.C. show and point is the toughest position to learn in the league, but he has weapons to pass to, including Andray Blatche. Vince Carter will have minutes lost this year to J.J. Redick, who proved in the playoffs last year that he can seize the moment. Expect lead Magic guard Jameer Nelson to teach young Mr. Wall a few lessons tonight. ORLANDO, 105-86
