Jilly: Who's that girl

Written by: Lamont

Talk about a unicorn.  I have spent the majority of my time in Houston complaining about the lack of minorities On-Air in a full-time capacity.  Rarely did I consider an on-air female sports personality.

Who is Jilly? She is a South-Side Chicago native.  She worked in music radio (in Houston) during Josh's first stint in Houston.  Josh and Jilly met and became a couple.  When Josh left for Philly, she went with him. When Josh returned to Houston, she returned with him.

Jilly is the third wheel of the Josh Innes Morning Show.  She's the only on-air  female sports currently  in Houston.  I am not breaking news, Jilly is Josh's girlfriend so the built in nepotism was a natural thought. Initially, I was not feeling her, she felt out of place. After the show moved to mornings, she's not bad.  She's actually decent.

BREAK DOWN

It's only a matter of time before she snaps on-air, with Josh constantly interrupting her updates.  At times, Jilly can be reading an update and Josh will jump in and the topic is damn near lost 8 minutes later.  I can sense her frustration at times but she's holding it together for the time being.

Some of her updates are dated.  In the social media era, your shit has to be within 24 hours.  I have noticed her pulling updates 2 to 3 days old.  Most of her updates are topics I've heard of.  I realize I may keep up with shit more than the average listener but just an observation.

She knows her sports.  I am not saying she's breaking down Xs and Os but in a conversation, she will not be asking you "honey, what's 1st and 10".  She can talk sports just as good as some of these legacy personalities on-air.

If you think about, Jilly is being used similar to Robin Quivers of the Howard Stern Show.  Int he past Josh hated being compared to Stern (Shock Jock) but hell I say, Stern is the Benchmark and shit yes I would love to be like him.
