REMEMBERING MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.: MLK WEEK ON ESPN!

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a United States federal holiday marking the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is observed on the third Monday of January each year, which is around the time of King's birthday, January 15. This year it will be observed this coming Monday, January 17.
This Monday marks the 25th anniversary of the celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in most of the states. (Please note that back in 1986, not every state first observed it.) So this week, ESPN is “celebrating MLK Jr.'s legacy by showcasing a week of special programming, vignettes, features, and stories on race and the progress toward achieving his dream.”
I wasn’t a follower of Dr. King (I followed Dr. J), so I don’t know how much of Dr. King’s dream dealt with the NFL, NBA, and sports in general, but in conjunction with his birthday celebration, there is plenty of programming on ESPN this weekend that is related to Blacks in sports, though all year long, there are plenty of black people seen on the ESPN family of networks, whether on the field/court or in the studio.
Last night on ESPN, there was another one of their town hall meetings. This one is called “Image of the Black Athlete”. If you missed it and are interested in seeing what the panel was talking about, it is being replayed tonight at 10 PM ET on ESPN Classic and tomorrow on ESPN 2 at Noon ET and 6 PM ET on ESPN Classic. Some of the shows related to MLK Week that are on this weekend feature the following black athletes: Wilt, Ali, Kareem, Gale Sayers, Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Buck O’Neill, Archie Griffin, Bob Gibson, Arthur Ashe, Larry Doby, Elvin Hayes, Hank Aaron, Bob Gibson, Joe Louis, Jackie Robinson, and a few others.
You can check your local listings for time and ESPN channel for any of these shows.

just stop and think, how many quality players do the Texans actually have? Hint...not many, yet they have the audacity to turn their nose up at quality players available to them...in the case of Tramon Williams the guy was on the friggin team and they cut him!! Houston we have a problem!
